«Фильм рекомендован для показа в качестве информационного материала при проведении военно-патриотической работы с учащимися учреждений начального, общего и среднего образования, а также с участниками движения ЮНАРМИЯ», — говорится в письме врид начальника управления военно-политической пропаганды и агитации Главного военно-политического управления Вооружённых сил Российской Федерации на имя руководителя проекта «Возвращение имени» и благотворительного фонда «Россия — Абхазия» Григория Скворцова.
В письме отмечается, что тема фильма «Поиск» является актуальной, интересной и современной.
Документальный фильм «Поиск» снят при финансовой поддержке Правительства Москвы, Торгово-промышленной палаты Абхазии и при материально-технической поддержке Министерства обороны РА, в рамках Международного военно-мемориального проекта «Возвращение имени, посвящённого памяти жителей Абхазии и других стран СНГ, погибших в плену немецких фашистов, и направлен на помощь тем, кто ищет своих родных, без вести пропавших в Великой Отечественной войне.
Работа над фильмом длилась с 2018 по 2021 годы.
В июне 2022 года премьера фильма «Поиск» состоялась в эфире федерального телеканала НТВ.
