Возложение цветов в честь 80-й годовщины начала битвы за Кавказ прошло в Сухуме у памятника Неизвестному солдату.
В понедельник исполнилось 80 лет с начала одной из наиболее затяжных и кровопролитных кампаний Великой Отечественной войны 1941-1945 годов — битвы за Кавказ.
Организатором мероприятия выступил культурный фонд «Платформа». В возложении приняли участие представители Московского культурно-делового центра «Дом Москвы» в Сухуме, Россотрудничества в республике, общественной организации «Центр правозащиты российских граждан в РА», студенты Абхазского государственного университета, Федерации тайского бокса Абхазии.
«Сегодня, в день 80-летия начала битвы за Кавказ, мы почтили память павших в тех боях, их было десятки тысяч, останки многих до сих пор лежат на перевалах Абхазии. Мы не должны забывать о подвигах советских героев и делать все, чтобы историческая память не подвергалась фальсификации», — сказал директор культурного фонда «Платформа» Дмитрий Статейнов.
Он напомнил, что фонд «Платформа» в конце апреля 2021 года презентовал масштабный проект «Кавказский фронт», посвященный 80-летию битвы за Кавказ. Основные его мероприятия пройдут в 2022-2023 годах.
Одним из основных очагов сопротивления немецко-фашистским войскам на юге СССР стали перевалы абхазского участка Главного Кавказского хребта — Клухорский, Марухский и Санчарский. В ходе боев смертью храбрых пали десятки тысяч солдат и офицеров Красной армии. Останки около 15 тысяч из них до сих пор лежат не погребенными на перевалах, в ущельях и на склонах гор.
31 июля 2020 года президент России Владимир Путин подписал федеральный закон «О внесении изменения в статью 1 Федерального закона «О днях воинской славы и памятных датах России». 9 октября объявлено Днем разгрома советскими войсками немецко-фашистских войск в битве за Кавказ (1943 год).
